The Roborock Q8 Max robot vacuum and mop aims to offer cleaning efficiency and convenience at an affordable price.

However, does it embody a smarter way to clean? If you've read our Q Revo review, you'd know that we really liked the features of that robot vacuum, especially how easy it is to clean up.

For the price of SGD529.90, we realistically can't expect the same level of convenience, but Roborock has introduced a streamlined 2-in-1 design for the Q8 Max: the dustbin and electronic water tank have been combined. It simplifies the cleaning routine by allowing simultaneous vacuuming and mopping, and also it reduces maintenance to a single task.

The Q8 Max features a dual rubber roller brush that optimises dirt collection and minimises hair tangles-one of a robot's most dastardly enemies. The 5500Pa suction power is enough for regular dirt and debris, including carpets, so you only need to step in for the troublesome stains and dirt.

This robot vacuum uses Roborock's PreciSense LiDAR for navigation and Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance to deal with unexpected objects on the floor, which should be good enough if you don't clutter your floor with wires and similar small obstacles in dimly lit spots.

The Roborock app is the primary means of controlling the Q8 Max, enabling features such as No-Go Zones, Quick Mapping, Multi-Level Mapping, and 3D Mapping, all visually designed to make customisations more intuitive. In addition, new features like Deep Carpet Cleaning, Clean Along Floor Direction, and Smart Suggestion for No-Go Zones expand the Q8 Max's versatility.

The Q8 Max is now available for pre-order at $529.90 until Sept 10, 2023 (MYR1899 until Sept 23 for Malaysia), only on Roborock’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada (Shopee and Lazada for Malaysia). Roborock is also offering special deals for its other models at these two official stores.

The S8 Pro Ultra starts at $1,729.90 | MYR5,599, the S8 at SGD739.90 | MYR2,899, the Q Revo at $1,159.90 | MYR3,599, and the Dyad Pro at $659.90 | MYR2,399. On top of that, the first 30 buyers of the S8 Pro Ultra receive a security camera, while the first 30 Q Revo purchasers can enjoy a complimentary waffle maker, while stocks last, of course.
