Acer has really been on a roll lately as they seem to be releasing new products fairly consistently. Of course, this is no bad thing as it gives us at Potions more devices to play around with and review and gives you the consumer a few more options to choose from when you are looking to buy a new laptop. Last Thursday (June 22), Acer announced that their latest Swift X 14 is now available in Singapore while the larger Swift X 16 will be arriving in July.

The Swift X 14 is the definition of a portable powerhouse and will be available in three configurations. The base model is fitted with the 13th Intel Core i5-13500H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 GPU, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD whereas the two higher-end options will come with a 13th Intel Core i7-13700H CPU, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU, 1TB SSD and up to 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM. Whichever option you choose, either one should be good enough for work and play.

At just 17.9mm thin and 1.55kg light, the Swift X 14 actually features an advanced cooling system that is made up of a large fan that works in tandem with the dedicated air inlet keyboard and dual D6 copper heat pipes to ensure the laptop stays cool and quiet even when under heavy load. It also has a redesigned chassis to accommodate a larger battery for all-day productivity.

On the display front, it has a 2.8K Oled display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 and a 120Hz refresh rate. If you are a stickler for colour accuracy and image quality, the display also meets 100per cent of the DCI-P3 colour range and is Vesa DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certified. On top of that, it is also calibrated and certified by Tuv Rheinland to reduce blue light emissions which reduces eyestrain after prolonged usage.

On top of all that, the Swift X 14 also features a 1080p Full HD webcam and Acer PurifiedView and PurifiedVoice with AI Noise Reduction that makes collaborating and chatting a disruption-free experience. Finally, when it comes to ports, the Swift X 14 has two USB 4 Type-C ports, Two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm headphone/speaker jack and a microSD card reader.

If you like the specs of the Swift X 14 but a 14-inch laptop is a little too small for your liking, then you should consider waiting until July for the Swift X 16. On the hardware side of things, the Swift X 16 will be available in a single configuration which uses the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU. It will also have 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.

To keep all its components running nice and cool, the Swift X 16 features a newly engineered thermal arrangement that comes with upgraded TwinAir cooling that boosts air intake by up to 36 per cent from its larger fans that feature a turbo mode, and an air-inlet keyboard design. Even with this new thermal management system and larger display, the Swift X 16 is actually just as thin as the Swift X 14, measuring in at just 17.9mm thin and is just slightly heavier as it weighs 1.9kg.

Speaking of the display, the Swift X 16 uses a 3.2K Oled panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 3,200 x 2,000 resolution. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate, 0.2ms response time and a brightness level that can reach up to 500nits. Other than that, its display also has Vesa DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 and TÜV Rheinland certification and 100per cent DCI-P3 colour range.

Last but certainly not least, the Swift X 16 features a 1080p Full HD webcam, which is enhanced with Acer PurifiedView, Acer PurifiedVoice and Acer Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR) technologies. When it comes to ports, the Swift X 16 has two USB 4 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1, a 3.5mm headphone/speaker jack and a microSD card reader. Additionally, it also features a fingerprint reader that lets you make full use of Windows Hello.
